The Reality Behind Fashion Photography
I’m guessing that you’re somewhat aware of the depths of my complicated love for fashion. In order to paint a more comprehensive understanding, I’m taking you back to the origins of the tumultuous affair.
It all began the day I picked up my first copy of Numero, a UK fashion magazine. Their prevailing art and design was inspiring and imaginative. Lovestruck, I observed the raw and evocative photography and couldn’t help but compare them with the art in my own life. I discovered similarities in our daily struggles. The pain, joy and sensuality within each photo spoke to me and I communed with the hard work that went into creating each trenchant photo. I fell in love.
Headlines demand attention, making even the most devastating happenings morbidly intriguing. This is the undeniable truth and driving force behind American media. Fashion seems above all this, a more pure form of captivation; ensnaring attention through beauty. It reminds us that there’s more to life than what’s skin deep.
Publications such as Numero provide the full story, beyond the photos, clothing and accessories. They detail designer hardships and photo shoot mishaps, the blood, sweat and tears of industry technique. The sweet taste of success and paper, each piece in Numero replicates the dark and light times through which we all walk. Because I know that Numero, and other fashion magazines endure pain and struggle all for triumph in the name of fashion, I can’t help but worship alongside them, in fashions’ name.
